Transport for NSW specifies the maximum fare which may be charged for each band as per a 3 yearly IPART (Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal) review.
What are bands?
Bands divide up each journey that a bus makes. Because each band varies in length depending on the trip, your fare may be different travelling one way compared to travelling another.
Band one (1) is always where the buses journey originates (I.E. The first stop on the route), irrespective of where you board the service, your fare is calculated automatically based on the number of bands you travel through.
